On Caption, you invest in the shares of a dedicated company acquiring a tangible asset (watch, wine, car, art). You access an investment memo, discuss with your private manager, then subscribe online. The asset is appraised, insured and stored by professionals.
According to the Knight Frank Luxury Investment Index, collectibles have shown annualised performance of 16% over 10 years (overall index). However, past performance is not indicative of future results and invested capital is not guaranteed.
The entry ticket is EUR 10,000 for collectible deals. Investment duration is generally 12 to 36 months depending on the asset type and market conditions.
Four levels of security: authentication by an independent expert, professional storage (freeports, climate-controlled cellars, vaults), all-risk insurance at appraised value, and legal collateral (share pledges, asset liens).
Six categories: works of art (contemporary, modern, classical), collectible watches (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet), prestige cars, wine and spirits (grand crus, vintages), horses (thoroughbreds) and physical gold (bars, coins).
Collectible investments are inherently illiquid. The duration is defined in advance (12 to 36 months) and the exit depends on resale conditions on the secondary market. It is generally not possible to recover your capital before the planned maturity.
